I don’t disagree with part of what you say. In a Free Market, Insurance companies can compete, and offer their services.

Since the advent of Medicare, the medical community has gone down hill. We must get the government out of health care.

@captaindiesalot I …
@captaindiesalot I guess I am looking for an end to insurance as we know it .I would rather see the free market with limited government solve the problem by allowing fair,open competition among business to bring down prices and improve quality while offer total pricing and service transperency to the consumer. Insurance should cover major health issues or devastating chronic health issues but still allow the customer to shop for services and price if possible.Tax deductions would help to.

Actually, look around, it’s happening, but insurance companies, while part of the problem are STILL held hostage to State Insurance Commissioners who command specific types of coverage if an insurance company wants to do business in their state.

Because theres a …
Because theres a billion regulations that prevents that and there are regulation that force people to take 11 years worth of courses to become a doctor.

Because of that there are less and less people wanting to become doctors (The less doctor there are the more expencive they become).

you already can opt …
you already can opt out, you just pay a small penalty based on income so you don’t end up as a freeloader… seems fair enough.

Why hasnt their …
Why hasnt their been an interest by American capitalists and business owners to go after this market?Just divide up the market into specilized health care providers or clinics that only accept cash. Need a blood tests? Go to a lab takes and runs the test with a explantion of results. Need a physical? got a cold? a sprain?broken bone?need an X-ray all these could be provide at a low cost yet be profitable if someone would just do it! Most visits could cost between $20. to $30

Insurance companies …
Insurance companies suck balls.

We are overly …
We are overly insured as americans..We are insurance addicts..
THE OPT OUT is REQUIRED as at minimum your best checking system in event of EXPECTED Fraud & Abuses …
So OPT OUT or we’ll fight for OPT OUT FOREVER……. & I mean FOREVER….

Think about it. If …
Think about it. If you have a “health plan” insuring flu shots, normal doctor visits, normal medical test, normal medications…and then it is covered by insurance…think a little! that is NOT insurance, and doctors know it. I got a blood test a while back, how much was it, HELL, I dunno, it was paid by my “insurance!”

You still don’t …
You still don’t understand, government policy encourages employers to give benefits like this due to the tax advantages for the employer. If you get a subsidized third party payer health plan through your employer, it is pre tax, while my private plan is paid with after tax money. You are incredible, what, Alain Einthoven, health economist, is full of bull?

Look, Americans are …
Look, Americans are Insurance Happy–addicted to insurance….
I don’t happen to be a big believer in insurance ..& I MUST always be able to determine what I want to insure at any given moment..
I NEED to be able to OPT OUT or else be able to make SERIOUS DEMANDS on how my Insurance Pool will be determined..
I WILL NOT be mixed in a pool with $1,000,000 Million dollar a year drug or self abuse or otherwise high riskers that are either illegally obtaining HC or just abuse it at every level..

then you have …
then you have doctors hospitals drug companies and insurance companies all making a buck oops medical industry jack buck to 1,000 buck .The bottom line is corruption and greed . socialism welcomed if it ends that mess .

By jammerman0101 on December 31st, 2009 at 11:40 pm

ok ,,lost wages is …
ok ,,lost wages is bull , the corruption starts there , companies give you the perk by pooling money into a fund and buying insurance cheaper than you could in theroy your self . The perk itself is debatable since all aren’t equal and if you think they will give you cash instead ask them .

@jammerman0101 No …
@jammerman0101 No the crux of the problem is this…if you are fooled into thinking your plan is actually subsidized (it it really lost wages, just like the Social security subsidy), and then what you think, the doctor and big pharma are stupid and don’t know this disconnect?

@jammerman0101 No, …
@jammerman0101 No, the majority of people in the US have employer driven, subsidized at least 50%, and government subsidized health plans masquerading as insurance….it is government policy driving up prices, in some states, there are effective oligopolies due to the restrictions on interstate competition!

By jammerman0101 on December 31st, 2009 at 11:40 pm

We have a …
We have a healthcare system good for the rich worthless to the poor and inbetween for all inbetween the 2 extremes . What about hospitals ,,I just saw a bill for 600$ for a doctor to look at an eye and give someone some creme to put in it 3 times a day ..Is that insurance companies ?

By jammerman0101 on December 31st, 2009 at 11:40 pm

lol lie all you …
lol lie all you want . I want to see you guys pay it yourself . even canada has a better system than america possibly mexico now !

By dontblameme100 on December 31st, 2009 at 11:40 pm

jammerman u have no …
jammerman u have no clue as to wat ur saying….1st of all the paperwork isnt the problem its a consequence of the system and second u need insurance companies but u also need a truly free market…which will drive prices down because of the competition on any service not regarding a catastrophic event…paying for things out of pocket is the solution NOT having the government paying for it!..The government has NO MONEY!!!

You are wrong, we …
You are wrong, we have arguable THE BEST healthcare system in the world with THE WORST health insurance setup in the world….remember it is supposed to be health INSURANCE reform! You project a clear ignorance on how our insurance is actually set up for the majority of americans.

Those are county …
Those are county services primarily funded by sales taxes, property taxes, and state income taxes depending on each state…don’t mix this with a mandate coming out of Washington…cheap rhetorical move!

By jammerman0101 on December 31st, 2009 at 11:40 pm

we don’t pay for …
we don’t pay for fire dept. or police dept. either by cash in pocket want to do away with that ?

@jammerman0101 Also …
@jammerman0101 Also, don’t you realize that every developed country with “universal healthcare” UK is the one with the most Socialist system – have insurance add ons to – gasp – escape the supply constraints since health services now become a PUBLIC good/service!

The last thing we …
The last thing we need is another government “mandate.” Check you pay stub….the “social security” is essentially a government forced fixed annuity…with a 50% employer “contribution,” NO it is your money as lost wages! you should be able to invest in maybe, a fixed annuity at I dunno Metlife!

You are simply …
You are simply wrong….Alain Enthoven, the father of the Dutch System says that the public option will no NOTHING to contain costs. Your reliance on the public option is cliche: You must understand that we have employer subsidized pre-payment/third party payer programs masquerading as insurance. We are insuring NORMAL doctor visits, obviously something is wrong!…and then people like me with private insurance are punished!

Stossel also speaks …
Stossel also speaks out against a public option as well. In order to understand the context of the statements he is making see ‘Sick in America: john stossel’
